COLORADO BLUE
by Bernice Lewis  (http://www.bernicelewis.com)

It’s my favorite color, the color of this sky
you feel closer to God, when you’re a mile high
I put this borrowed red jeep into four-wheel drive
head up the canyon, just to feel alive

Where the plains meet the Rockies
on the Front Range
being here alone is so strange
half of me is back east with you
color me Colorado blue

Stuck in a traffic jam in Denver in the left lane
ended up in Boulder, twenty years too late
found me a run down cabin made of beams and post
who needs plumbing baby when you’ve got a ghost?

Where the plains meet the Rockies
on the Front Range
being here alone is so strange
half of me is back east with you
color me Colorado blue

Years from now I’ll be looking at these pictures
staring out at the rain
thinking about the adventures I could have had
but baby, I don’t want to miss you this bad
half of me is back east with you
color me Colorado blue
